Public meetings on Abel Tasman foreshore management proposals
People can get information about proposals for management of the Abel Tasman foreshore at public meetings in Motueka and Richmond later this month.
Tasman District Council and Department of Conservation representatives will give a presentation on the Abel Tasman Foreshore Scenic Reserve Draft Management Plan at the meetings and people will have opportunity to ask questions about its proposals.
The Richmond meeting is at 6pm on Wednesday 29 June at the Tasman District Council’s Richmond office, 189 Queen Street.
The Motueka meeting is at 6pm on Thursday 30 June, at the Tasman District Council’s Motueka office, 7 Hickmott Place.
The 774-hectare Abel Tasman Foreshore Scenic Reserve, established in January 2007, is administered by a committee of the Council Chief Executive and the DOC Nelson/Marlborough Conservator.
People have until Monday 8 August 2011 to make submissions on the draft management plan for the foreshore reserve. The new plan, when finalised, will guide and direct the reserve administration committee’s management of the foreshore.
Copies of the draft foreshore management plan and submission forms can be obtained from the council website www.tasman.govt.nz, the DOC website www.doc.govt.nz , council service centres, DOC’s Nelson Regional Visitor Centre and local offices.
