Rodd & Gunn announce nationwide model search for R&G brand
International menswear brand Rodd & Gunn is celebrating the opening of their second R&G concept store in Auckland by kicking off with an exciting competition!
Today, R&G launch a nation wide ’model search’ to discover a new guy and girl to be the face of the brand. The winning pair will travel to Turkey with renowned fashion photographer Derek Henderson to shoot the upcoming advertising campaign.
Mike Beagley, Managing Director of R&G says, “We are not necessarily after the traditional model look. R&G is for real men and that’s who we want representing our brand; a guy with rugged good looks and of course a gorgeous girl to match him.”
R&G’s designer John Prikryl states: “The R&G guy prefers substance rather than fads and appreciates quality. With a sense of adventure and youthful optimism, he values the craftsmanship of authenticity.”
R&G welcomes both men and women 18 years and over to enter. All that is required is to submit a photo on the R&G Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/rngduck
Entries close 10 June, and will be followed by the announcement of twenty finalists on 17 June. The finalists will then meet with photographer Derek Henderson along with the R&G design team for a casting.
Set to coincide with the opening of the second R&G concept store at 21 High Street in Auckland’s CBD, the winning pair will be announced at the exclusive store launch party on June 23. Then the fun will begin as they jet off to Turkey from 13 July until 19 July, where they will shoot the summer campaign.
On the opening of the new store, R&G’s store development manager, Nik Rush, says, "R&G respects the past, and that extends to the buildings its clothing collections are housed in.”
“21 High St played host to the iconic Deschler’s bar for many years, and the site has retained that relaxed vibe, well suited to chilling out and relaxing. Roughcast brick walls, exposed beams and raw wooden floorboards make up the physical structure; add a pool table, comfortable leather chairs and a counter that doubles as a bar, and you get the real essence of the brand coming to life - authentic, masculine, understated style,” says Nik.
“The aim was to capture the spirit of the bar and building whilst incorporating a retail selling space that was at one with its environs. It's the real deal and is what it is, nothing more, nothing less."
