Ray Wallace

May 19, 2011 - Hutt Valley is emerging as the creative cradle of business innovation says Lower Hutt Mayor Ray Wallace following the success of Wellington Gold Award supreme winner Mesynthes at last night’s annual event.

“We are promoting the Hutt as a science valley to develop manufacturing business through new technologies to grow New Zealand’s economic wealth.

Mesynthes pursued a solution to a problem and worked with Otago University and Industrial Research Limited (IRL)to refine a product that demonstrates New Zealand can foot it with the best in the world.

“The Crown science agency Industrial Research based in Hutt City is a part of a future being shaped by companies like Mesynthes and the Lower Hutt council sees an exciting future in the area of science and specialised manufacturing.”

The Mayor congratulated Macaulay Metals, Dulux NZ , and Celcius Coffee who were also winners of Gold Awards. Twelve companies from Lower Hutt were finalists in the Gold Awards.

“Hutt City Council is actively encouraging business success through technology and innovation and the Gold Awards highlight the good progress being made.”
