Local chiropractor joins Kindergartens Board
Chiropractor Nigel Hardy may not have children at Ruahine Kindergartens, but he is excited about the association’s
direction as a newly elected member of the Ruahine Kindergartens Governance Board.
Dr Hardy is one of five new members elected to the board and looks forward to “some big changes ahead” as the
association works centralise financial services.
As the owner of Quantum Chiropractic clinics in Levin and Feilding, Dr Hardy has developed strong connections within the
Feilding community.
His passion for the health and wellbeing of the region’s children saw him introduce C4Kids in 2010, making high quality
chiropractic care more accessible for children under five.
Under this initiative parents are asked to donate to the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association in exchange
for their child’s care.
“It’s about removing the barriers to quality healthcare. Healthier kids are free to grow and develop. Taking sick days
and feeling unwell can really impede a child’s education”, he said.
Seeing the difference this initiative made to both parents and children contributed to his decision to stand for the
Ruahine Kindergartens Board.
“I have big aspirations for our community both personally and professionally. Standing for the Ruahine Kindergartens
Board offered an opportunity to give back on a much larger scale, positively influencing the lives of numerous children,
teachers and parents throughout our region”, he said.
Accessibility, affordability and quality are essential to the service provided by Ruahine Kindergartens and general
manager Louise Bartholomew is delighted to welcome Dr Hardy to the board.
“His objectivity and business acumen will prove invaluable in the wake of government funding cuts”, she said.
“It’s fantastic to have such a strong board behind the association, committed to supporting our teachers in providing
children with the best possible start.”
Clare Lees-Galloway, Peter Roberts, Brent O’Brien and Melissa Stott are also new to the Ruahine Kindergartens Board in
2011. They join returning members Alan Holmes and Bruce Pearson.
