Update 5 May 2011
State of Civil Defence Emergency was lifted on 3 May. Access restrictions remain in place.
Road clearing across the affected areas is going well.
Pourerere Beach Road closed, Te Apiti Road closed. Mangakuri Road from Clareinch Road to Mangakuri Bridge – access is limited to residents only. Blackhead Road still closed.
Gibraltar Road hopefully will be open by the weekend. Clareinch Road is open up to the end of Mark Warren’s property.
Bush Road is still limited to light 4x4 vehicles only – will be graded in the next few days – should be open to heavy vehicle access by Monday.
Mangakuri Bridge and Kairakau entry drop out will be surveyed today.
KAIRAKAU
Foot access only and
Residents access only.
Road block still in place –
Residents only, Access Permit required.
Surveyors will be
looking at the slip nearest Kairakau entrance to assess work
needed to open the road for vehicle
access.
MANGAKURI
Mangakuri Road bridge is
Closed. Access to Mangakuri Beach via Clareinch Road.
Residents and Farmers only – no public access.
Debris
clearing work on the Mangakuri Bridge will commence today
and assessment on repairs is being carried out. The bridge
could be closed for a number of weeks
yet.
POURERERE
Northern end is open. No access
to southern end. Road block is still in place. People
living in the middle beach are the only ones allowed access.
Further inspections have been carried out on houses at
southern end of beach and re-stickered Red to Yellow as
appropriate. Owners will be notified today regarding
access to houses – Access Permit will be required. Every
property will be required to have an electrical certificate
of inspection before power is turned on.
ARAMOANA
Still land locked. Access allowed to
farmers only – Ouepoto and Aramoana stations. No access
for property owners until inspection of houses has been
carried out.
Hoping for Saturday 14 May for resident
access. Access Permits will be
required.
BLACKHEAD
Main issue is still trees
– access for owners only. Access Permit
required.
