Central Hawke's Bay civil defence staff are continuing to working through an evacuation plan for the most isolated
settlements in the district.
39 people were evacuated on Thursday 29 April from coastal communities. Another 13 will be evacuated today from
Mangakuri and Aroamoana.
Access to Blackhead, Kairakau and the northern end of Pourerere beaches is restricted to essential services and
residents.
No access is available to Aramoana and the southern end of Pourerere Beach. It is expected to take up to three weeks to
reopen access to Aramoana with access to the southern end of Pourerere Beach closed indefinitely.
Any evacuees that have not already registered with Red Cross please report to the Central Hawke's Bay District Council
Office in Waipawa.
Crews are currently out inspecting roads and bridges and reinstating access where possible. Updates will be provided
when available. Refer to the website for road closures and updates.
NZ Police are patrolling the coastal communities.
The following roads are closed, with manned road blocks in place:
* Hunter Road & Blackhead Road corner
* Motere Road & Long Range Road intersection
* Pourerere Road & Long Range Road intersection
* Kairakau Road at Elsthorpe Village
Other closed roads are: Gibraltar Road, Blackhead Road (Rangitoto to Long Range Road), Mangakuri Road and Te Apiti Road.

The state of local emergency declared by Central Hawke's Bay District Council yesterday is expected to remain in place
