Last days for annual plan
submissions
Rotorua 28.04.11: Rotorua residents have just a few days to give the Rotorua District Council (RDC) feedback on its draft annual plan and related proposals for the 2011/12 financial year.
Tuesday (3 May) at 4pm is the deadline for receipt of submissions at the council.
The draft annual plan sets out RDC’s programme of services and projects for next year along with budgets and funding sources.
Mayor Kevin Winters says the plan proposes an average rates increase of 3.1% which he says will be one of the lowest in the country and has been kept under the rate of inflation for the third year in a row.
Council chief executive Peter Guerin said the draft annual plan includes measures to stimulate economic growth, sustain and protect the environment and maintain existing service levels, while applying financial constraint.
“To date we have received around 740 submissions. Seven hundred of these are in support of the council’s involvement with the proposed Waikato/Bay of Plenty National Cycling Centre of Excellence and the balance cover a wide cross section of issues.”
Copies of the submission form and a summary of the draft annual plan can be collected from the council Civic Centre, District Library and City Focus.
The documents in full are available on the council website rdc.govt.nz and electronic submissions can also be made online from the site.
