Bus service established for St Martins shoppers

Press Release

13 April, 2011

New World South City establishes bus service for St Martins shoppers

A free bus service has been established to run to and from the badly damaged New World St Martins supermarket to New World South City.

The bus runs six times a day, Monday to Friday, leaving New World St Martins at 10am, 11am, noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, and returning from New World South City at a quarter to the hour starting at 10.45am.

New World South City owner/operator Nigel Bond said that he wanted to make it as easy as possible for shoppers in the St Martins area to continue to enjoy the New World experience.

New World South City experienced only superficial damage to a few tiles and a couple of minor cracks in the floor during the earthquake and was thoroughly inspected by structural engineers and deemed safe prior to opening on March 8.

“We are actually looking at extending the super shuttle service for our New World customers in Redcliffs, but there are a few logistics that we have to work through including the 3.5 tonne weight restriction on the Ferrymead Bridge.

“We have also been in touch with the Redcliffs Residents Association to assist us with our planning,” he said.
