Life Flight Trust responds to unwell ferry passenger
At approximately 5.00pm this evening the
Life Flight Trust was responded to an unwell passenger on
board the Interisland ferry Aratere.
Life Flight responded with a Wellington Free Paramedic on board the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.
The patient was a 52 year old West Coast
resident who became unwell during the crossing late this
afternoon. The paramedic was winched onto the ferry as it
sailed through Queen Charlotte Sound. After assessing the
patient they were both winched off the ferry and the patient
was taken by helicopter to Wellington Hospital Emergency
Department where he is being further assessed and
treated.
The Life Flight Trust is a charity
providing air rescue and air ambulance services. It operates
the Wellington based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a
national air ambulance service. It relies on support from
