local board address: Devonport
Local Government
Minister Rodney Hide will attend the April 19 meeting of the
Devonport-Takapuna Local Board in
Devonport.
Board Chair and a resident of Devonport's Stanley Bay, Chris Darby, said Mr Hide would address the board on the recent restructuring of Auckland’s local governance and is keen to hear from residents.
“I spoke with Mr Hide recently and invited him to attend our board meeting; his enthusiastic acceptance means our board will be the first to host the architect of Auckland’s re-organisation,” Mr Darby said.
“This will be the first time our local board will formally meet in Devonport so it’s appropriate to mark the occasion with the Minister’s visit,” he said.
The meeting will be held at the Devonport RSA Hall, 61 Victoria Road starting at 6pm with the Minister’s address. Residents will then be invited to provide their perspective and ask questions.
A public forum follows where residents can address the six-member local board on concerns or aspirations.
“Everyone is welcome to attend and we’ll be inviting local community and business groups along as well,” Mr Darby said.
The Devonport-Takapuna Local Board comprises Joseph Bergin, Mike Cohen, Dianne Hale, Jan O’Connor, Kevin Schwass [Deputy Chair] and Mr Darby.
The local board area spans from Devonport in the south to the slopes of Sunnynook in the north, taking in various suburbs including Bayswater, Belmont, Hauraki, Milford and Castor Bay, with the northern busway as its western boundary.
