Shane Jones only jealous about “blow-up” waka

Auckland Councillor for Orakei, Cameron Brewer, has defended Ngati Whatua o Orakei’s taxpayer-funded plastic waka-shaped pavilion for the Rugby World Cup.

“Labour MP Shane Jones can rant and rave as much as he likes. However the reality is, given his past antics, he’s only jealous he’s missing out on the giant “blow-up”. I’m sure he’d love one all to himself.

“This is no crass bouncy castle. This will look spectacular and good on Ngati Whatua for taking the lead on this. This is their patch and so what the Labour Party thinks in Wellington is irrelevant.

"Importantly this will put Maori up in lights for what is the third largest sporting tournament in the world.

“The 40,000 extra visitors in Auckland for October will have rugby on their minds. If we are to successfully communicate any Maori or cultural messages they need to be very obvious,” says Cameron Brewer.
