Naenae Computer Clubhouse wants you!

Naenae Computer Clubhouse wants you!

The Naenae Computer Clubhouse is celebrating its first year with an invitation for local community and business representatives to get involved.

Tomorrow the Clubhouse will open its doors to showcase all it has achieved during the past 12 months and encourage invited guests to volunteer their expertise, skills or equipment.

The Clubhouse is managed by Hutt City Council and is a place where young people work with volunteer adult mentors after school to explore their own ideas, develop skills and build confidence through the use of the latest digital technology.

Mayor Ray Wallace is looking forward to meeting with the young clubhouse members and hopes their work will inspire a new group of mentors.

“I know we have some very talented people across the city with digital technology skills and I hope they will consider passing on some of their knowledge by becoming a clubhouse mentor.

“Mentoring can be incredibly rewarding and is an opportunity to make a positive difference in our community.”

Local businesses and organisation such as Main Beam, WelTec, Hutt Radio and the Lower Hutt branch of Holy Bagel are already generous supporters of the Clubhouse.

The Naenae Computer Clubhouse was the fourth clubhouse to open in New Zealand and is part of a global community of 100 clubhouses in 20 countries.
