FREE Holiday Swim and Water Safety
Year 6-8 school children have the opportunity to strengthen their swimming skills and learn how to be safer in and around water with WaterSafe Auckland’s upcoming Break Away School Holiday Aquatic Programme at Mt Roskill’s Cameron Pool.
“Swimming is the most popular leisure activity for boys and girls in New Zealand,” says Angelo Naude of WaterSafe Auckland’s Aquatic Education Team, ” yet there are still too many who have not had the opportunity to learn essential swimming and survival skills, and professional tuition remains inaccessible for many.”
“This programme seeks to fill that gap, with four days of FREE aquatic-based activities providing the perfect opportunity for the children to learn some essential skills while have lots of fun,” he says.
Break Away runs from 9am to 2pm, at Cameron Pools, 53 Arundel St, Mt Roskill, Auckland.
There are two programmes scheduled – the first Monday 18th to Thursday 21st April, followed by Tuesday 26th to Friday 29th April.
Full details and enrolment forms are available at www.watersafe.org.nz.
The Break Away
Aquatic Holiday Programme is coordinated and delivered by
WaterSafe Auckland with funding support from the Ministry of
Social Development.
Break Away is a Ministry initiative
to provide stimulating, fun and structured holiday activity
for young people who would not normally have access to such
activities.
