SBS Bank Golf Day Raises Funds for Hospice and Canterbury
A fun day on the golf course proved to be doubly beneficial for those who enjoyed it, as they were also able to fundraise for both the Red Cross Appeal for Christchurch and Hospice Southland during SBS Bank’s Invercargill Golf Day recently. (NB: Friday 25th).
SBS Bank Invercargill manager Neil Bramley said the annual Ambrose competition involving members and key partners was held at the SBS Bank Invercargill Golf Course, at Otatara, and this year it was agreed to charge a team entry for fundraising purposes.
Nineteen groups of four teed off on the day and SBS Bank matched the entry fees, which raised a total of $1540 for the Canterbury earthquake appeal.
“Not to forget our local community, we also ran our annual raffle, with the support of Lakers House of Travel for a $500 travel voucher, because we are both avid supporters of Hospice Southland. That meant we were able to donate a further $880 to the Hospice.
“Adding the entry fee this year meant we could provide added benefit back to another extremely worthy cause, over and above the donations that continue to be made to our SBS Bank account, which is cleared to the Red Cross appeal each night. It’s been tremendous to see the generosity of our customers has really stepped up to the plate in what has been such a distressing time for all those in Canterbury.”
Mr Bramley said the annual golf day was an additional injection for Hospice Southland following SBS Bank members voting for the Hospice to be the charity recipient of the $10,000 proceeds from the recent SBS Bank Golf Invitational.
“At SBS Bank we believe that the wellbeing of our customers and our communities is vital, that’s why we go out of our way to find every little way of giving something back. If we can support two extremely worthy causes while having a great day of golf then that’s a win-win for everyone involved.”
