A free gardening workshop with a twist will be held at Tupare on Sunday (27 March) – it won’t involve an actual garden.
The two-hour hands-on workshop will focus on container planting, including pots, urns, hanging baskets and even old boots, saucepans or teapots.
Hanging baskets in the Tupare glasshouse. “We’ll have a look at some of the pots, urns and hanging displays at Tupare, and demonstrate techniques and talk about the best plants to use and how to care for them,” says the Taranaki Regional Council’s Regional Gardens Manager, Greg Rine.
“We also want participants to bring along their own containers – small pots, shoes, teapots, tea cups, saucepans, biscuit tins or whatever – so they can have a go themselves. Fairfields have kindly donated plants and potting mix for the workshop.”
Mr Rine says there’ll be plenty of tried-and-true tips to help people create something unique for their home.
Sunday’s workshop, which starts at 2pm, is part of a programme of free events at Tupare and the other two Taranaki Regional Council heritage properties, Pukeiti and Hollard Gardens. All three properties are open daily and entry is free.
