CRICKET WELLINGTON MEDIA RELEASE

Black and Red out the Basin (amended)

The embankment around the Hawkins Basin Reserve is to be turned red and black at Sunday’s Fill the Basin charity Twenty20 match.

“The match is being televised live throughout New Zealand and streaming live on Yahoo!Xtra throughout the world,” Fill the Basin organiser Stephen Fleming said.

“This is an excellent opportunity for the crowd to dress in red and black and show the world their support for Canterbury.

“With the match being screened on live on CTV Wellingtonians will be able to show Canterbury that they care and that they want to help in anyway they can. Come on Wellington let’s turn the Basin Red and Black on Sunday.”

The gates at the Basin Reserve open at 10.30am before the Curtain Raiser between a New Zealand Cricket Players Association XI and Wellington Invitational XI gets underway at 2pm.

The Kids on the Basin Reserve event will be run from 2.30pm to 3.30pm, followed by the main fixture at 4pm.

Fans urged to arrive early

Fans are urged to arrive at the Hawkins Basin Reserve early. Cricket Wellington stresses that it is imperative that people don’t leave it until the last few minutes prior to the match starting before arriving or they may face lengthy queues outside the ground and miss the start of play.
