Bunnings New Zealand And Australia Contribute $250,000 To Christchurch Earthquake Relief
Bunnings New Zealand and Australia have worked together in Canterbury’s time of need, committing NZ$250,000 for relief efforts following the devastating earthquake last month.
The funds provide for a $200,000 cash donation to New Zealand Red Cross for their 2011 Earthquake Appeal and $50,000 to support local community projects for those who have been affected by the Christchurch earthquake.
Family fun days and sausage sizzle fundraisers were held on Saturday 5 March at Bunnings stores in New Zealand and across every state of Australia collecting a total NZ$150,000 which Bunnings have topped up to $250,000.
Bunnings NZ General Manager, Rod Caust has spent time in Christchurch with Bunnings team members in Shirley, Riccarton and Ferrymead and offered his support.
“I am very proud of the combined efforts our stores and customers have made on both sides of the Tasman to help the people of Christchurch,” said Mr Caust.
“Our Christchurch team members were out in the community helping others immediately after the earthquake, and now our team members across both New Zealand and Australia have able to make their own contribution.”
“I would like to thank
all of those customers and team members who helped raise
funds for the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake
Appeal.”
