Additional ways to donate to support Christchurch

Additional ways to donate to support Christchurch through ASB

ASB has introduced a number of new ways to donate to support our people in Christchurch.

In addition to online, over-the-counter and text donations, ASB customers can now donate directly to the Christchurch Earthquake Support Fund with their True Rewards dollars earned using their ASB credit card.

Save The Change savings can also be paid directly to the fund. All of the funds donated into ASB's Christchurch Earthquake Support Fund are being collected for the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal.

More than 20,000 True Rewards dollars have so far been paid over into the Christchurch fund since this option was offered last Monday.

Save The Change is similar to an “electronic money jar” which enables customers to choose to round up their EFTPOS and Visa Debit card transactions to the nearest multiple of $1, $2, $5 or $10, with the rounded up amount being transferred to a nominated ASB savings account overnight. Customers can also choose to round up other electronic transactions, such as automatic payments, bill payments and direct debits. ASB has now extended the options available to Save The Change customers so they can now choose to send these rounded savings amounts to the New Zealand Red Cross through ASB’s Christchurch Earthquake Support Fund account.

On Friday, 4 March, following a request from the New Zealand Red Cross, ASB went live with a credit card donation line. Anyone holding any New Zealand credit card or Visa debit card can call ASB on 0800 272 006 to make a donation directly to the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Earthquake Appeal.

This credit and debit card donation service will also be available through ASB during the TV One Good Morning programme's telethon on Monday morning, 7 March.

The TV One Good Morning programme is devoting this entire show to fundraising for the New Zealand Red Cross 2011 Christchurch Earthquake Appeal. The show will feature a number of New Zealand artists, and will run as a mini-telethon from 9:00 a.m. to midday.

ASB will be supporting the fundraising effort with volunteer ASB staff members manning the phones and processing New Zealand credit and Visa debit card donations directly to the Red Cross via its dedicated New Zealand Red Cross credit card donation line 0800 272 006.
