Variety Charity Auction For Christchurch

Published: Fri 4 Mar 2011 04:47 PM
Variety - The Children's Charity has kicked off the Variety Bash charity auction, with 100% of all proceeds going to help children affected by the earthquake in Christchurch.
There are some unique and interesting items, which I thought might interest your readers.
•‘Toss the Boss’ from AJ Hackett’s Queenstown Nevis Bungy - Has your boss been giving you grief? Well, here’s your chance to ‘Toss the Boss’! The winner of this auction can convince, cajole and persuade their boss to be tossed from AJ Hackett’s Queenstown Nevis Bungy. If your boss is too chicken, they can double the bid by making a similar donation to Variety and nominate you to take the fall instead!
•Dinner with a Pacific Blue bachelor pilot at White Restaurant - Do you recall the Pacific Blue pilot from the much loved Pacific Blue “Happy Flying” / Macarena TV commercial? Well, here’s the chance for you and two friends to meet him over dinner at White Restaurant in Auckland. The handsome Cantabrian (who goes by the name Captain John Brooker) didn’t hesitate when asked to help Variety raise funds for his beloved Canterbury region after the tragic quake. The dinner and drinks alone are valued at $680. Add in Captain John Brooker and the value goes sky-high!
•A Personalised Poem by renowned Writer & Poet Bill Manhire CNZM - A money-can’t-buy opportunity from New Zealand’s inaugural Poet Laureate. This is a rare chance to have a poem written for yourself, a unique occasion or perhaps a special person in your life, by acclaimed poet Bill Manhire.
•Lesson with Anika Moa and Ashton Guitar Starter Pack - This is a priceless gift for a budding musician! In this pack you get a Ashton steel string acoustic Guitar, travel guitar bag, strap, spare strings, picks and DVD. However the best part is the kick-start to your career as a guitarist with an exclusive lesson with Anika Moa.
It would be great if you were able to mention the auction and let your readers know to visit www.trademe.co.nz/variety and bid on these items and more. The auction will run until Wednesday, 16 March.
Proceeds will be used for things like replacing mobility and medical equipment for children with special needs, providing specialised equipment or support to schools impacted by the quake or helping children to cope with the loss.
