Press Release
Information for
Aucklanders: Christchurch Earthquake
The Auckland Regional Migrant Services (ARMS) seeks the
support of all concerned agencies and community groups to
assist Christchurch migrants arriving in Auckland for two
key initiatives.
We have produced a special edition of our newsletter ARMS Reach with relevant information for newcomers/migrants now here in Auckland who have been affected by the Christchurch earthquake, and for Aucklanders and local organisations who want to offer them assistance. This newsletter provides information and assistance about accommodation, counseling, interpreting, government services, travel and volunteering. This newsletter is being sent to all organizations and groups who provide support services, to migrants, refugees and Aucklanders.
The second initiative, organized by our Settlement Support Coordinators, is a meeting of social service organisations and ethnic communities in Auckland, to identify collaborative ways to provide suitable support for those coming for refuge from Christchurch .
Time: Tuesday 8th March 2011 9.30 - 11.30
Venue: Auckland Regional Migrant Services, 532 Mt Albert
Road, Three Kings
What: To share what support is
available, what your group/organisation can do, and to hear
what others can do and develop an action plan where
necessary. RSVP essential.
ARMS staff are available to help Aucklanders with any information they may require either to assist those who have been affected, or to lend a helping hand to newcomers from Christchurch. Our Settlement Support Coordinator for Manukau City is working closely with the Welfare Centre set up in Manukau for families coming up from Christchurch.
Please feel free to call our Regional Centre on 09 625 2440, or our Manukau Centre on 09 262 5983.
