Council burglary low blow
Council burglary low blow
While staff and volunteers work tirelessly in the Horizons Boardroom manning the Canterbury Earthquake Missing Person Line, offices at the back of the council’s premises on Victoria avenue were being burgled.
Thieves broke into Horizons buildings at around 4am on Thursday morning taking a laptop, data projector and other electrical appliances.
Horizons’ chief executive, Michael McCartney says he is gutted by the break-in.
“Burglary is disappointing at the best of times but for it to happen now is a particularly low blow. For the past week Horizons staff have worked selflessly manning the missing persons line while simultaneously carrying out their normal work,” said Mr McCartney.
