Earthquake victims
Ballarat: March 3,
2011: McCain Foods has commenced delivery of over 1,000
meals of a total promised 30,000 pre-prepared meals to help
Christchurch earthquake victims and rescue workers.
The first part of the shipment is on-route to Timaru camping grounds where displaced families are situated with McCain Foods employees co-ordinating the distribution. The remainder of the shipment will be shipped shortly.
The total shipment is valued at over NZ $95,000 and freight has been donated by Halls Transport.
McCain Foods Australia/New Zealand managing director Mr Steve Yung said McCain Foods will do whatever it can to help a community that is in urgent need of assistance.
“We have many loyal customers and staff in North and South islands of New Zealand, and in this time of need, it’s appropriate for us to give something back when families need it the most,” he said.
The remainder of the donation is being co-ordinated
with the Salvation Army in Wellington. The meals will be
distributed throughout Christchurch by the Salvation
Army.
