Update on arrangements for register of Christchurch self-evacuees
Waikato Civil Defence Emergency Management Group is updating the arrangements for registration of Christchurch self-evacuees.
The primary way of registering those who have come to the Waikato remains getting in touch with Work and Income service centres.
However, those wanting to register by phone are now being asked to ring the Red Cross on 0800 733 276.
In Hamilton, a one-stop shop has been set up in Housing New Zealand's Victoria Street office for Christchurch self-evacuees seeking help, information and advice. A similar information service has been
established at the Huntly marae.
To help evacuees, Waikato Civil Defence has produced information cards which will be distributed through key portals, such as the region's airports, transport centres and hospitals.
Full details of arrangements and services for Christchurch residents arriving in the region are available on the Waikato Civil Defence website, www.waikatoregioncdemg.govt.nz.
