Media Statement
Luxottica offers replacement eyewear for Cantabrians
As a result of the devastating impact of the Christchurch earthquake last Tuesday, eyewear company Luxottica will provide any individual or family directly affected by the earthquake with free replacement of their damaged prescription glasses or contact lenses.
"We are very concerned for the safety and wellbeing of all those in Christchurch as they recover from this terrible disaster," says Luxottica Chief Executive Officer Chris Beer.
"Luxottica has been caring for the eyes of Cantabrians for almost fifteen years and with many residents still without power and cut off from basic services, we are looking to help in the way we know best. Often, glasses or contact lenses get damaged or go missing in these circumstances, so free replacement glasses will be available from our OPSM and Budget Eyewear stores.
“We know many people displaced by the earthquake have left Christchurch to stay with family and friends, so we invite these people to visit any OPSM or Budget Eyewear store nationwide to replace their eyewear, or call 0800 283 393 (OPSM) or 0800 696 776 (Budget Eyewear) for more information.”
For customers based in the Christchurch area, OPSM and Budget Eyewear in Hornby are currently the only open locations in the vicinity. Luxottica will advise as more locations reopen.
