Christchurch Poverty Cycle event postponed due to quake
TEAR Fund has postponed its inaugural Poverty Cycle event on March 5 due to the tragedy that has struck the city of Christchurch and its people.
TEAR Fund executive director Steve Tollestrup said: “Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Christchurch in this dark time.” He said it would be inappropriate to continue with the event in light of the circumstances. The event was to be held on the Little River rail Trail on Saturday March 5. “We hope as the region recovers, that there will be an opportunity to hold the event at a later date. However, as an organisation that responds to these sorts of disasters overseas, we realise that this will take some time.”
TEAR Fund is talking with partners in Christchurch to look at ways the organisation can help and support those affected by the quake.
