Message of Support from Sir Don McKinnon
I was in Christchurch when the magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck. I've been in a few but this was the heaviest shake I have ever experienced.
It was horrific, but in my building we all survived. On behalf of Auckland Museum I would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt support to everyone that has been affected by this disaster. Our thoughts are with the emergency services, those who are anxiously waiting to hear news and those who have already lost loved ones.
In remembrance of this dark day, our flag will fly at half mast for the foreseeable future.
Sir Don McKinnon, Acting Director, Auckland War Memorial Museum
