Christchurch Earthquake Update - PGG Wrightson
PGG Wrightson (PGW) can report that it has incurred no loss of human life, nor obvious infrastructural damage to any of its operations located in the Christchurch region. The company is receiving engineering advice as to the safety of its administrative offices, Seeds distribution and coating centres and Rural Supplies and Fruitfed stores.
All operations are open for business with the exception of the Rangiora and Blenheim stores which remain closed today.
We acknowledge the shocking impact of this devastating event and the consequences in terms of the loss of human life. In particular our thoughts are with our friends and associates at Pyne Gould Corporation who have suffered a terrible tragedy in the wake of the collapse of their Christchurch office building.
Yesterday’s events and the ongoing aftershocks of the past six months have tested the courage and resolve of our Christchurch based staff. PGW has offered whatever time is necessary to its regional staff to attend to family and friends, and deal with personal and property damage. PGW has also received numerous offers of assistance from around New Zealand and internationally.
