BOP Police to send staff to Christchurch
The Bay of Plenty Police District is in the process of mobilising a group of Police staff to deploy to the Christchurch area to assist with the earthquake recovery effort.
The Bay of Plenty District Commander, Superintendent Glenn Dunbier, says a group of staff from across the Bay of Plenty District will travel to Christchurch. It is likely that they will depart for the region within the next few days.
“Clearly this is a serious situation which requires an urgent response.
“Our thoughts are with everyone in the region – including those Police staff and other emergency services who are already working hard on the ground.
“We are pleased that we are able to lend our support to this national effort, and this support will be offered on an ongoing basis as required.”
