Message of Support to Christchurch
The Mayor has this afternoon sent a message to support to his counterpart in Christchurch.
In the wake of today’s 6.3 Richter scale earthquake in Christchurch, Len Brown told Bob Parker the thoughts of Auckland are with Christchurch today. “We all have friends and family in Canterbury and we feel for you at this time,” he said.
“Auckland Council will do everything it can to help as the people of Christchurch pick up the pieces. In the meantime, our thoughts and our prayers are with you.”
The Mayor says he will discuss a number of options with council officers, including the provision of road and water engineering support, civil defence, and specialists in building consents if these are requested.
