Porirua Ready to Send Help to Christchurch After Quake
Porirua Mayor Nick Leggett says Porirua City Council staff will again travel to Christchurch to help following today's major earthquake if required.
Council’s emergency management staff have been helping in the National Emergency Management Centre at the Beehive today while other staff have been briefed and are preparing for possible deployment should a request be made for assistance.
“Our deep concerns go out to those who have lost loved ones in this dreadful disaster. We feel for everyone in Christchurch and Canterbury who again have to go through the terrible trial of the initial quake as well as the many frightening aftershocks that follow."
