Port Nelson Open Day a big success
Just on two and a half thousand people made the most of the opportunity to see what goes on behind the security fences at Port Nelson’s open day on Sunday.
Chief Executive Martin Byrne says the day was a great success with people commenting very favourably on the displays – ranging from container handling to Customs’ drug dog demonstrations – and on the helpfulness of the port staff who were on hand to show people around.
“We has great feedback from people throughout the day and there are a lot of very happy kids around Nelson who were very excited to be able clamber over some big machinery, get in behind the steering wheels and toot a few horns.”
A gold coin entry donation was taken for the Nelson Regional Hospice.
