A honey of a Valentine’s Day gift
A honey of a Valentine’s Day gift
February 10, 2011
Looking for the perfect gift for your loved one this Valentine’s Day? The buzz is that TEAR Fund’s Gift for Life catalogue has a gift that is just the bee’s knees.
TEAR Fund marketing manager Sheena Duffy said Gift for Life offers the chance to buy a lasting gift for those who really need them.
“Long after the petals of the traditional gift of roses have wilted, or the chocolates are gone, TEAR Fund’s Bee's Knees gift will be helping to create a livelihood for families in Nepal and India helping them to afford necessities for their children. This gift will train locals to become beekeepers, so they can start a thriving honey business.”
How Gift for Life works
Gift for
Life items are practical gifts you buy for poor people
overseas on behalf of a loved one or friend. For instance,
if you buy a goat, your loved one receives a personalised
card telling them that you have bought that item on their
behalf for a poor family overseas.
When you order your Gift for Life, a card is sent to you so you can write a personal message in it before giving it to a loved one. The card shows them what you have bought on their behalf but not the cost.
TEAR Fund will send a tax receipt to the buyer of the gift at the end of the financial year, so they can claim a tax rebate. TEAR Fund will then send the money to the overseas project and where it is used to buy the item you have selected.
