Horizons Elects new Chair
Bruce Gordon has been elected as the new Chairman to lead the council for the next three years.
He was the only nomination to replace Murray Guy, who stepped down from the position to manage business and family commitments.
Mr Gordon has served on the Regional Council for the past six years in the Manawatu-Rangitikei Constituency, and in that time has served as Chairman of the Regional Transport Committee and as a member of the Audit, Risk and Investment Committee, and the Catchment Operations Committee.
Before being elected to Horizons, he served three terms on the Rangitikei District Council.
His wife Liz is a local teacher, and together they have three adult children.
Over the next three years, Mr Gordon says he
wants to use his experience to better
communicate
Horizons’ policies for improved public understanding and
debate.
“I have been involved in the agricultural contracting business for 30 years and own a small property ten kilometres from Marton.
“My work takes me to much of the district, giving me valuable insight into the needs and problems people have.’’
