Sparks will fly this weekend

Sparks will fly this weekend

ASB Classical Sparks is gearing up to be a bright, colourful and entertaining evening at North Hagley Park this Saturday 5 February.

Christchurch City Council Marketing Manager Richard Stokes says this year’s show has a military theme that is “full of surprises”.

“The show will kick off with an exciting stunt that is sure to be noticed by half of Christchurch.

“Get there early to ensure a parking spot, a good space on the lawn and – most importantly – so you don’t miss a very dramatic start.”

Up to 100,000 people are expected to turn out for an extravaganza of music, fireworks and entertainment.

The evening starts at 7:30pm with pre-show entertainment and close to 150 performers from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, New Zealand Army Band and Christchurch City Choir.

The show will conclude around 10:30pm with a fireworks display choreographed to a classic ’70s rock hit.

“This is a great event for the whole family and with the weather forecast looking good – we’re sure it’s going to be a huge success,” says Mr Stokes.

ASB Classical Sparks is a free event part of the Garden City SummerTimes festival. For more information visit www.summertimes.co.nz.
