Nominations called for Keep Rotorua Beautiful Awards
ROTORUA 27.01.11: Keep Rotorua Beautiful (KRB) is on the lookout for potential worthy recipients of their annual awards which will be announced in March.
Nominations are open to any individual, group, school or business that has made a visible difference in the community over the last 12 months.
Rotorua District Council’s KRB coordinator Christine Findon says the Keep Rotorua Beautiful Awards recognise some of those people and organisations making a real difference to the city’s beautification.
“In the past nominations have included schools that have regularly carried out ‘wombles’ (clean-ups) in their neighbourhoods, businesses that have operated excellent recycling programmes or renovated buildings in the community, and individuals who have beautified public areas by clearing rubbish and planting trees and shrubs.
“These efforts are a big part of the reason why Rotorua was voted New Zealand’s Best City recently and has held the title six times in the past 11 years.
“All nominations will be considered by the KRB Committee, and those that have gone the extra mile in helping to keep our city beautiful will be real contenders. We’re really looking forward to receiving some fantastic nominations for these annual awards.”
Entries close Friday 11 February.
The annual Keep Rotorua Beautiful Awards function will take place at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre on Tuesday 29 March.
