Tragic Death Shocks Migrant Community
The New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils Inc. wish to express our sincere sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of late Ranjeeta Sharma found burnt to death last week.
New Zealand Federation of Multicultural Councils, a representative of migrant, ethnic and refugee communities in New Zealand understands and is aware how hard it is to comprehend the intensity of this incident.
Our members and people in ethnic communities are shocked and very upset about this tragic death. We wish to assure the New Zealand public that we will work collaboratively with NZ Police and other agencies to ensure that the perpetrator of this act of violence is held to account. The NZ Police are currently investigating the case and the Federation awaits the outcome before concluding that this is an honour killing. Speculations and comments of this nature causes unwarranted distress to all affected by this incident and we request public to await the investigations to be concluded by the police.
We urge the members of the public to come forward with any information that would help with the Police in their investigation.
