Public invited to meeting to discuss features for new skate parks

ROTORUA 21.01.11: A public meeting to discuss the features of skate parks proposed for Western Heights and Fordlands is taking place at Rotorua District Council (RDC) on Thursday next week.

The parks are being developed by the council this year as part of the Youth Spaces Project aimed at improving facilities for young people in the district.

RDC youth projects officer Jill Campbell says the meeting is specifically to review the draft detailed designs for the skate park features.

“I encourage anyone keen on skating and likely to utilise the new skate facilities to come along and help us to review the proposed skateboarding features on these two sites.

“Skating enthusiasts young and old will have the opportunity to make comments and recommendations on the designs. This will assist us to ensure that Rotorua people are provided with fantastic skate parks that are on a par or even better than others in the country.”

The meeting is being held on Thursday 27 January from 5pm to 6pm at the Rotorua District Council Civic Centre in Committee Room 2.
