Sir Michaels’ ‘’Hills’’ reach 100 Milestone
Since opening and hosting the first NZ Open in 2007, The Hills has recently reached the milestone membership of 100, taking the course closer toward Sir Michael’s vision of becoming ‘The Augusta of the Southern Hemisphere’.
“ We are thrilled to have hosted the Open here the last 3 years, “ says Sir Michael, ‘’ it has proven the course has everything it takes to host an international competition’’. Not to mention the location is the perfect lure for visitors to enjoy the tournament, or to inspire an international television audience with unmatched visuals around the stunning course.
Whilst the decision on the host course for the 2011 NZ Open is still pending, it’s business as usual at The Hills. “We are continuing with strong growth and welcome an ever expanding membership base”. says Sam Gent, General Manager, The Hills. ‘’We see the 100 milestone in four years as a very positive endorsement ’’ .
As an international playing venue, The Hills is unsurpassed, framed by picture perfect Queenstown scenery and providing a challenging and naturally sited course. Says Sir Michael, “ The venue is, of course, unbeatable, but more than that, we have the infrastructure needed to run an international competition, and that’s our plan, to host an iconic annual event’’.
