Family Violence incident in Wendon, Southland

At 4.55 p.m. Police attended a Family Violence incident in Wendon ,Southland involving a 30 year old male and a female.The female was seriously assaulted and required ambulance to attend initially.
The male then left the address where a 7 year old and a 10 year old child were also present.
The Invercargill Armed Offenders Squad was deployed as the male had access to firearms. He was arrested as he fled an address and is to appear in the Invercargill District Court on 1st January 2011 on charges.
The victim is receiving treatment in hospital and the children are being cared for by family.
