Cyclist struck by car

Cyclist struck by car
Police advise that at about 1630hrs today a 14 year old boy was struck by a vehicle on Waiwhetu Road, Lower Hutt.
Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper said the cyclist was treated by Ambulance on scene and later air lifted to Wellington Hospital. He is in a serious but stable condition.
The driver of the motor vehicle was spoken to at the scene. He was shaken but otherwise unharmed.
Police are still investigating the circumstances to this accident, but early indications show that the cyclist was not wearing a bicycle helmet.
Senior Sergeant Cooper is asking parents to reinforce safe bike riding habits to their children and urging motorist to take extra care over the holiday period.
