Wonky Donkey!

Wonky Donkey!

Quick! - tell the kids that Wonky Donkey will be at the 2011 Festival of the Elements this Waitangi Day, February 6, at Te Rauparaha Park, Porirua. Wild, wacky and wonderful, Craig Smith’s ‘The Wonky Donkey Show’ will delight everyone within earshot.

The Wonky Donkey song was immediately popular and won the Children’s Song of the Year Award in 2008; it has since gone platinum with over 40,000 copies sold in New Zealand. The phenomenon is also a picture book, written by Craig and illustrated by Katz Cowley, which collected the ‘New Zealand Post Children’s Book Award – Children’s Choice’ in May 2010.

A native of Central Otago, Craig worked for ten years in the marketing industry before returning to his passion of music. He started to write music for children when he saw that a lot of kids were going from nursery rhymes to teenage music as they hit the ages of 6 -12. Craig plays acoustic steel string, slide and electric guitar accompanied with harmonica. His songs are humorous, easy listening and just right for children.

Make Wonky Donkey part of your Waitangi Day. Starting at 12 noon and continuing through to 7:30 pm, it is the best FREE family day out on offer anywhere.
