North Shore Family Syndicate Plan $2 Million Christmas Celebration
A North Shore family syndicate of five are planning an extra special Christmas lunch this year, after claiming their $2 million Lotto First Division prize, says NZ Lotteries’ Chief Executive, Todd McLeay.
One syndicate member, who wishes to remain anonymous, says she found out they had won on the Saturday night, but did not believe it until she checked the numbers online. “I was like a possum in the headlights, I was so stunned” she said.
“I then rang my other family members, who screamed down the phone at me after they realised I was not having them on!”
The family, who have been playing Lotto together for about five years, describe their win as “life changing” and a “dream come true”.
The family members now plan to pay off mortgages with their share of the prize and then put the rest in the bank, while they get over the shock.
In the meantime, they are planning a very special Christmas celebration.
“All the family have put their orders in now for some fancy treats,” the winner said. “So we are having angus beef steak, scallops and some lovely champagne, it will be a Christmas Day to remember!” she said.
Their winning ticket was sold at Video Ezy in Torbay, Auckland.
Whilst these millions will be paid just in time for Christmas, NZ Lotteries is still looking for another Auckland millionaire who is yet to come forward and claim their $4.8 million luxury prize package after winning Big Wednesday.
The missing player purchased their Big Wednesday ticket from Crandell Peters Paper Plus in Manukau for the 17 November 2010 draw.
