Strictly for the grown-ups!
In its 18th year the Christchurch World Buskers Festival has come of age - and it’s celebrating with a special new
adults-only show to titivate and delight audiences.
Thanks to the sponsorship of Pacific Blue, Christchurch audiences will be introduced to the classic arts of burlesque
during the 2011 Christchurch World Buskers Festival.
The new Buskers Burlesque will be staged every night from Friday 21 to Saturday 29 January, hosted by the saucy
seductress Miss Lili La Scala.
London-based Lili, aka Felicity Wills, has been a professional street performer for years and is known as The Songbird
of Trafalgar Square, but it will be a steamier side of this diva that audiences will see when she performs at the new
Buskers Burlesque Show.
The Buskers Burlesque show, which will be staged in at the Pacific Blue Buskers Club in Cathedral Square at 10.30pm
every night of the festival, is strictly for adults and will see Lili thrilling audiences with her songbird melodies,
vintage glamour, and her own style of saucy striptease.
“This is the third year in a row that Felicity has performed at the World Buskers Festival but audiences are going to
see a very different side of her this time. The show’s going to be very racy and very raucous – it’s not for the
faint-hearted,’’ says World Buskers Festival artistic director Jodi Wright.
“We’re always looking to expand the appeal of the Buskers’ festival and burlesque has been enjoying a resurgence in
popularity so we thought Madamoiselle Lili would be a big drawcard.
“She’s going to beguile and seduce everyone in the audience!,” says Ms Wright with a laugh.
The World Buskers Festival is on in Christchurch from January 20 to 30, 2011. Information on the full festival line-up
is available at www.worldbuskersfestival.com.
