AB’s Tri-Nations Final Test Jersey Auction For Sick Kids

Piri Weepu has donated his All Blacks jersey from the Tri-Nations final against Australia to be auctioned for charity.

The signed jersey, along with Piri’s second leg cast, is being auctioned on TradeMe by Wellington Hospitals & Health Foundation, in support of Wellington Children’s Hospital. The jersey is hot property and includes embroider on the sleeve with the date of the final and also ‘Piri Weepu 44th Cap’ on the hem.

The leg cast, also signed by Piri, is one he was wearing while he recovered from his infamous injury sustained during an ITM Cup match again Taranaki in October 2010.
While in hospital, Piri was visited by patients in Wellington Children’s Hospital and also met 10 year old Connor a big fan of Piri’s. Connor was in hospital following the removal of his kidney due to cysts and a tumour.

“For a huge rugby fan like Connor, meeting Piri Weepu really gave him the motivation and positive inspiration he needed to heal and make it through the toughest time of his young life. For that, we would like to thank Piri from the bottom of our hearts.” said Connor’s mother, Karen Cross, who hopes to win the auction for her son.

Piri’s first cast was donated to the Foundation to support Breast Cancer patients. It was auctioned for $1,200.

Like all Vodafone Wellington Lions, Piri is a great supporter of Wellington Hospitals and Health Foundation and has visited Wellington Children’s Hospital on several occasions.

Funds raised through this auction will be used to support Wellington Children’s Hospital.
