Chief Executive for Auckland Council Property Ltd announced
David Rankin has been appointed Chief Executive of Auckland Council Property Ltd (ACPL).
Mr Rankin has held the role of interim Chief Executive of ACPL since the council controlled organisation was formed on 1 November this year as part of the amalgamation of the councils in the Auckland region.
ACPL provides strategic and expert property advice to Auckland Council on property matters. It manages assets of approximately $700m and leads future key Auckland Council property projects including many significant projects initiated by previous council-controlled organisations. It also manages acquisition and disposal activity.
ACPL Chairman Sir John Wells said Mr Rankin’s considerable knowledge and experience of financial, asset and investment management in the local government context will be invaluable.
Mr Rankin holds a law degree from Auckland University. He began his career in local government in 1984. He started with the Auckland City Council in 1989 as Industrial Relations Manager. He was appointed Director of Finance in 1996, which included responsibility for the previous Auckland City Council’s property portfolio, and Chief Executive in 2005.
