Food stocks critically low at City Mission

Food stocks critically low at City Mission

Auckland City Mission is struggling this Christmas. ‘Demand for support is up again this year,’ says City Missioner, Diane Robertson, ‘but our food stocks are critically low – the shelves are nearly bare.’

‘Meanwhile, at the front of the Mission, people are queuing for food parcels and social workers are running to keep up,’ she said.

‘’We’re now exploring our options for purchasing food just so we can supply enough Emergency Food Parcels to get us through Christmas. That cuts into money set aside to provide social work and other types of support.’

‘People in our community need help now. Our shelves are empty. Please, help the Auckland City Mission care for all Aucklanders this Christmas.’

The Auckland City Mission Christmas Appeal is on now. Donations of money, non-perishable food, new gifts, furniture, household items and clothing are all gratefully accepted.
