Staying True To It’s Origins After 20 Years
While Auckland and Christchurch may have massive big budget productions with Christmas in the Park, Wellington will celebrate the arrival of Christmas with it’s traditional Carols by Candlelight this Wednesday night at Waitangi Park.
Showcasing it’s local singing talent, Carols by Candlelight will this year return to it’s origin type “back of the truck” style carols. The night is all about coming together as family’s with the songs you can sing along too, for me it’s all about the audience participation, says show organiser Nick Tansley.
Nick Tansley went on to say. “After 20 years what can I say….It’s a pleasure to see the smiles on the kids faces, It makes it all worth while.” “This year we are working together for the first time with the Christmas Market, Telecom Christmas tree, More FM’s Santa’s grotto all accumulating in the one place to make the night brilliantly Christmassy for young and old.”
So no fireworks, no TV presenters and no X-Factor winners but a rainbow as wide as Wellington Harbour is what you can expect from Wednesday’s Carols by Candlelight.
Local radio station More FM, is so thrilled to be supporting the Carols this year and hopes the special Reindeer Ears the team will be handing out will help put everyone in the Christmas spirit. “It’s great that we can help raise money for the Children’s Hospital foundation as well” says Dan Boyd Promotions Manger at MORE FM.
Event: Carols by Candlelight Date: Wednesday 15th December 2010 Time: From 6pm Where: Waitangi Park.
