Armed Offenders Police Drop in on Airfield
Trainees from the elite police Armed Offenders Squad (AOS) have descended from the sky onto Paraparaumu Airfield,alarming some locals in a noisy exercise with an Iroquois helicopter.
But it was all part of a realistic exercise,teaching the AOS recruits how to abseil into inaccessible territory to deal with someone using a firearm or dangerous weapon.
The training is realistic and the trainees are fully equipped, but their guns are deactivated for the duration of the exercise….
