Appeal For Information On Possible Assault
Christchurch Police are appealing for information on a possible sexual assault incident in Hagley Park early this morning.
Members of the public saw a couple together near the toilets at around 12.30am, and heard a woman's scream some 20 minutes later.
A group of passers-by approached a man walking towards Armagh Street and challenged him about the incident. The man was subsequently spoken to by Police but has not been charged.
Detective Joanne Guy says the only description of the female was that she had long brown hair and was wearing dark-coloured high-heeled shoes.
"We are asking for anyone who has seen or heard anything in the area near the public toilets and lake at Hagley Park between 12 and 1 this morning to contact the Police."
Anyone with information should contact Detective Joanne Guy on (03) 3637400 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
