Remarkables Market an outstanding success
The inaugural Remarkables Market has been hailed an “outstanding success” by organizers after approximately 1,500 people turned out to its opening on Saturday (December 4).
“We’re incredibly grateful to all the locals who made a big effort to come along,” said Remarkables Park Special Projects Coordinator Olivia Porter.
“We’re delighted with the success of the first day, and stallholders have told us that it hugely exceeded their expectations. They were very pleasantly surprised by how many of them had sold out by the end of the day.”
Approximately 33 stalls set up for the first day of European-inspired The Market, housed in and around a red farm barn just 100m along from the main entrance to Remarkables Park Town Centre.
People happily browsed through the stores and enjoyed coffee and snacks in the sunshine, listening to live music and taking in 360-degree mountain views.
Ms Porter said her phone had run ‘hot’ since the market opening and she already had ten more applications for stalls. “From next week we’ll have organic free-range eggs and ice cream and we’ll put up more shade umbrellas for those who want to sit down and relax.”
The Remarkables Market will run every Saturday (except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day) from 8am to 1pm until the end of April. There is plenty of parking immediately adjacent to the market and by next week there will be more been more work on the roading plus more parking and landscaping.
